Conference quickie

Woo hoo, they have free Internet access thanks to a sponsor! Just a quick hello. It's utterly gorgeous and hot here in Victoria. This morning's keynote speaker was the fab and hilarious Bill Richardson (author, CBC radio personality, former librarian at my library!) who gave a great presentation about....all kinds of things! Particularly the movie Desk Set with Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, which I love.
He mentioned that he'd been playing "spot the librarian" last night and you certainly could - there are apparently 1100+ of us here. As my husband said when I called him on Thursday night - "Lock up your sons!!" And your sailors, too - apparently an American ship has pulled into the harbour, though I haven't seen any men in uniform myself. Damn. :)
I'm off to my hotel room to get out of the heat for a bit and then back for 2 more sessions on public library design by one of my fave profs from library school and libraries in "marginal" communities, which I gather ours is.
Hope everyone's havin' fun workin'! Hee hee. :)
