I almost have to stop calling the drop-in centres the Places Where No-One Listens. I've got 2 out of the 3 pretty well trained. On Thursday I did a Christmas themed storytime at the smallest one and I finished off with Twinkle Twinkle, as usual. There were only 2 families there, so I figured they wanted to get home. But when we finished, the little girl (about 3 years old) said, in a tiny, high-pitched voice that sounded like a tragedy had occurred, "More songs!!" Well, I was powerless to resist such a plea, so we sang Jingle Bells and the Wheels on the Bus. The funny thing was, she isn't quite up to singing herself yet, or even really doing the actions, but after every verse of the Wheels, she'd smile beautifully and clap her hands twice. It was adorable and I certainly can't claim that she wasn't listening.
